About Us

Lori Ann Knowles is a professional patternmaker for the fashion industry. She is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, San Francisco, CA, with a degree in Fashion Design, 1985. Since 1985 she has worked for several designers, most notably Marian Clayden, Los Gatos, CA, for 13 years. She has also taught patternmaking for fashion design at West Valley College in Saratoga, CA, for 9 years.

Lori is the author of a series of two patternmaking textbooks:

Lori has long been interested in historic costume. She has created many reproductions of vintage styles, for herself, for clients and for the Ferndale Repertory Theatre of Ferndale, CA. Lori designed and made costume pieces for the productions of: Jekyll and Hyde, Brides of Dracula, Man of La Mancha, Amadeus, and A Christmas Story. Lori has also made costume pieces for Ferndale Dance Academy productions.

Lori’s patternmaking expertise covers flat pattern and draping, mostly for women, but she has also worked with several children’s wear companies and the occasional men’s wear company, as well as custom clothing for men and women.
